Stephen Keshi has signed a 2 year contract with the NFF to return as the Super Eagles coach but with a clear task from the NFF.
The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) unequivocally told returnee super Eagles Coach Stephen Keshi to bring up young players to the senior team in his second stint at the helm of affairs.
NFF acting president Seyi Akinwunmi told newsmen that Keshi has been tasked with building a “young, vibrant Eagles”.
“He has the charge to create a new young, vibrant Eagles that would play a style of football that Nigerians would be proud of,” said Akinwunmi, “to ensure a seamless transition of the U20 players to the Super Eagles.”
Keshi has previously showed a reluctance to bring changes in the team and bring in fresh exciting talents to complement the experienced players as he prefers to stick with the old guard even when things are awry.
The NFF has made it abundantly clear to the former Super Eagles skipper that a robust approach to player selection should be enthroned where all young exciting prospects within and outside the country are considered in the long-term development of the team.
Keshi’s immediate task is to right the wrong of failing to make the Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea when the qualifiers for Gabon 2017 commence in June.
