Twitter Is Erupting Over Giulliana's Alleged Racist Comments On Zendaya's Hair! Read What She Said

Folks are fuming over comments made by "Fashion Police" host Giuliana Rancic during the show's Academy Awards red carpet recap special that aired Monday night.

And there's good reason. While commenting on actress/singer Zendaya's look, which included a satin ivory Vivienne Westwood gown and a head of waist-length locs, Rancic said, "I feel like she smells like patchouli oil." That sentiment was followed with, "Or weed," by co-host Kelly Osbourne and then repeated by Rancic.
Twitter erupted after the comments surfaced, arguing that the state and style of Black women's hair continues to be a topic of discussion and unfair scrutiny. From TSA agents patting down Afros, a woman having to cut her locs to keep her job, and the Army's discriminatory ban on particular African American hairstyles -- the list goes on and on.

With that said, it's no surprise that Zendaya didn't take the insult lightly and penned a powerful open letter to Rancic via Instagram, blasting the critic for her harsh words and ignorance.

Shortly after that post went live, Rancic issued an apology on Twitter saying that her comments were in reference to a "bohemian chic look" and not race.

Dear @Zendaya, I'm sorry I offended you and others. I was referring to a bohemian chic look. Had NOTHING to do with race and NEVER would!!!

Osbourne also took to Twitter to respond to the controversy.

I WILL NOT BE DRAGED INTO THIS! The situation is being rectified like ADULTS by both parties. I hope you can leave it to them & do the same!
you guys do realize that @Zendaya is my friend right?

Are you buying it? Or is this just another case of a celebs doing damage control? Sound off in the comments section.
