2015 GENERAL ELECTIONS:THE NCP SHOWS UP WITH A BANG!

While GEJ is preaching "Continuation" as his main agendum, and GMB is screaming "Change," a young US trained Engr. Martin Onovo from the NCP shows up with a thought provoking agenda! Read:
The National Conscience Party [NCP] which was founded by late Chief Gani Fawehinmi, human and civil rights lawyer, flagged off its 2015 election campaign in Enugu, Southeast Nigeria.

During the party’s campaign flag off which was attended by people from all walks of life, including NCP chairman Alhaji (Dr) Yunusa Tanko, the party’s presidential candidate Engr Martin Onovo, professionals, business leaders, and notable politicians from the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria, the NCP pledged to: EXPEL Boko Haram from Nigeria’s territory; REDUCE fuel price by improved domestic crude oil refining; END crude oil theft; RAISE minimum wage by reducing maximum wage while retaining the total wage bill; DOUBLE power output in 3 years via a $9 billion investment; RESTORE pride & effectiveness of our armed forces; CHECKMATE insecurity; CARRY OUT rapid infrastructural development; UPHOLD primary health care; adequately FUND research units in tertiary institution; REDUCE waste, such as fleet of presidential jets and excessive foreign trips by government officials, among others.

Alhaji (Dr) Yunusa Tanko, NCP chairman, highlighted that an NCP government will religiously pursue good governance thereby practically demonstrating that good governance means ensuring the welfare and security of people, abolishing poverty, and solving other societal problems. According to Dr Tanko, Nigeria’s parlous situation is the result of bad governance, ingrained corrupt practices and disingenuous policies pursued by current cum past political rulers. Hence there is need to vote NCP as the party has a formidable team of industrious and honest Nigerians.

Dr Tanko introduced NCP presidential candidate, Chief (Engr) Martin Onovo, [young, articulate and ethical, world-class engineering and management professional] who studied petroleum engineering at University of Houston, Texas] appealing to Nigerians to vote NCP at all levels.

Engr Martin Onovo urged Nigerians to vote National Conscience Party (NCP) which was founded by late Chief Gani Fawehinmi, SAN, SAM, LLD, in 1994, out of popular struggles against abuse of power, injustice, bad governance, and lawlessness.

Onovo affirmed that Nigerians do not need a frail and sectional man or a weak and ineffective man as commander-in-chief. Hence a proper evaluation of candidates based on integrity, vision, vigour, competence and national acceptability is worthwhile in order to reveal the most apt person to lead Nigeria. Chief Onovo said the electorate must see the need for good governance and elect young, strong, more professional and ethical candidates to serve Nigeria. He warned Nigerians that any goof by choosing either a feeble and ineffective man or a man who could not secure his government in Idiagbon’s absence is a recipe for calamity as Nigeria is in need of emergency surgery.

Chief Onovo reiterated NCPs 10-care program [Employment, Food, Health, Housing, Education, Water, Electricity, Transportation, Telecommunications and Security Care]. On energy, Onovo position included that there is no presidential candidate that understands this subject better than him as this is his area of professional expertise. He said any presidential candidate contesting Onovo’s pre-eminence on energy, including Nigeria’s power sector outlook, should put his hand up for a debate. NCP believe that, taking into proper account the considered sources of power, gas power is best option for Nigeria. That does not mean that NCP is excluding all other options. In effect, NCP is saying that in terms of hierarchy, gas is at forefront for Nigeria. Gas is super-abundant in Nigeria.

Onovo who spoke at length stated that almost all sectors in Nigeria were dysfunctional given unbridled corruption, unemployment, lowest public power per capita in Africa, dilapidated infrastructure, widespread insecurity of human lives and property, bad roads, poor healthcare, low life expectancy, weak education, extensive crude oil theft, low minimum wage, declining national productivity, mass poverty, epileptic power, $20 billion missing oil revenue, highest ‘road fatalities per year’ in the world,  kidnapped Chibok girls, millions of homeless and internally displaced persons, subsidy fraud, six legislators suspending over 20 of their colleagues, frequent foreign trips for medical care, 70% poverty rate (despite our national wealth), and looming debt crisis given The Debt Management Office report that Nigeria’s public debt as of September 30, 2014, peaked at almost $70 billion or NGN 13 trillion.

Onovo posited that the cost of debt service in 2013 and 2014 peaked at NGN 592 billion and NGN 712 billion respectively, yet Nigeria is incessantly borrowing. Engr Onovo warned that given the current rate (20%), it means that by 2016 Nigeria will have to spend about NGN 1 trillion on debt service, and by 2019 the figure could reach NGN 1.8 trillion.

NCP anti-corruption strategy is called the 4Es– Example, Empowerment, Education and Enforcement. The party will apply and sustain this strategy. NCP government will lead by example.

Engr Onovo said: Nigeria can CHANGE this 2015. From wrong to Right; insecurity to Security; unemployment to full Employment; evil to Good; mass deceit to Veracity; indiscipline to Discipline; under-development to Development; darkness to Light; abuse of power to Service; violence to Peace, hypocrisy to good Example; injustice to Justice; corruption to Integrity. This is the CHANGE we propose and announce. NCP is real deal. Vote NCP" he concluded.
