An Aliwal North police detective was arrested on Friday while allegedly transporting drugs from the Eastern Cape to Johannesburg. According to Timeslive, the 37-year-old detective constable is being charged with possession and dealing in drugs.
Hawks spokesman Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi‚ said an undisclosed amount of drugs were found in his possession during a crime intelligence operation following a tip-off.
“His vehicle was stopped and searched as he was heading to Johannesburg.”
The investigating officer‚ who can only be named after he appears in court‚ is due to appear in the Aliwal North Magistrate’s Court.
