Residents of Austin and El Paso (pictured) are wondering whether roads named after Olympian Bruce Jenner should be renamed after the transgender athlete's new identity, Caitlyn.
Several roads were named after Jenner following her victory at the 1976 Montreal Olympics though residents now face choices about whether to update them following her announcement in Vanity Fair. Briggs and others in Olympic Heights, a neighborhood where the streets are named after famous Olympians such as Wilma Rudolph and Jim Thorpe, say they are supportive of Jenner.
However, they now must decide if doing the paperwork to make a change official is worth it.
'I thought about doing it myself,' Briggs told KVUE.
Address information for bills and GPS systems would need to be updated given an official switch.
Some in the Texas neighborhood have said that people think they are joking when told about the road named after Bruce Jenner, who achieved a second gust of fame after appearing on Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
To change the name of a street in Austin, more than half of those living on it must sign a petition.
