PDP Chairman Attacked By Members Over N70m Campaign Fund

Tension is brewing in the fold of the Peoples Democratic Party in Bayelsa State over a plot to remove its Chairman, Col. Sam Inokoba (retd.,) over his alleged involvement in the diversion of N70m presidential campaign fund.

The fund, it was learnt, was allegedly provided by the Minster of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, to support the party at hosting President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign rally in Yenagoa last Friday.

Those plotting Inokoba’s removal accused him of allegedly diverting N40m out of the N70m provided for the party.

The party boss was also accused of taking a substantial share from the remaining N30m unknown to the members of the State Working Committee of the party.

The move to remove Inokoba is already creating palpable tension between his loyalists and aides of Governor Seriake Dickson.

Those calling for the removal of the chairman attributed the collapse of Inokoba during the presidential rally to the supposed pressure created over the alleged fund diversion.

The discovery that the amount given to the party was N70m and not N40m, blew open during the PDP presidential rally which was attended by Diezani.

Attempts to get Inokoba to react to the allegation were not successful as several calls to his mobile phone rang out.
