Despite suffering two major aviation disasters in 2014, Malaysia Airlines has not made a list of the world’s most dangerous airlines.
Daily Mail reports that the airline, in fact, scored five out of a possible seven stars for its safety record from AirlineRatings.com.
AirAsia, which suffered a massive crash in late December, on the other hand only scored between 2 and 3 stars for three of its regional subsidiaries – Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
According to Yahoo, of the 449 airlines surveyed, 149 received a seven-star rating, while almost 50 received three or less.

And then there were a few which only received one star. They are as follows:
Kam Air, Afghanistan
Nepal Airlines, Nepal
SCAT Airlines, Kazakhstan
Tara Air, Nepal
Airlines that received a rating of between two and three stars, include
Zambezi Helicopter Co, Zimbabwe
fastjet, Tanzania
TAAG Angolan Airlines, Angola
VietJet Air, Vietnam
fly540, Kenya
As AirlinesRatings points out, there is no doubt that 2014 was a particularly bad year for airline safety with some of the most tragic and bizarre incidents in modern history. All in all there were 21 commercial accidents with 986 fatalities, which is much higher than the 10-year average.
However, the world’s airlines carried a record 3.3 billion passengers on 27 million flights.
